Televisions is installed in all our guest’s cabin and entertainment saloon to enhance onboard entertainment experience.
Our LED HD televisions are equipped with Satellite TV programs, Apple box and USB/HDMI ports allow guests to sync with their iPhone and stream/play their own favourite movies or music. Xbox and PS4 gaming consoles are available too, there will be interactive games and ample controllers for a fun gaming session.
We do encourage all our guests to pre-download their favorite movies into their iPhone/laptop, share and watch together with rest of the guests on-board during free time! We also encourage our guests to bring along their own interesting console games to play together with the rest of us!
A designated area on any of the outdoor deck area is available for smoking. Smoking is not permitted in any other area for any reason, strictly no littering of cigarettes butts into the sea, we have ashtrays located at these outdoor areas.
Do take note, Palau customs only allow each visitor to bring 20 sticks of cigarettes into the country. You may purchase cigarettes from local provision shops at USD 6 per packet, limited types of brands available.
Please be considerate to non-smokers onboard by only smoking at our designated outdoor smoking area, thank you for your consideration.
No fresh food (fruits, meat, vegetables or seafood) is allowed to be brought into Palau.
Each visitor are allowed to bring in 1 liter of alcohol and no more than 20 sticks of cigarettes or 170g of tobacco.
Please take note, Palau’s Customs are very strict in what visitor are bringing into their country.For more information, you may refer to Palau’s Customs rules and regulations from Palau’s official website.
Our vessel has both 110v and 220v for camera battery, which is located at Digital Corner of the vessel. The standard power sockets on board are “international/universal” and will accept almost any pin configuration. The vessel layout is designed with ample USB and socket charging ports available for each guests by their bed side.
On Palau land, electricity and plug sockets are the same as in the USA (Single phase 60 cycles, 115/230 volts AC.
On MV Black Pearl, we provide Reef-Safe Body Wash and Shampoo & Conditioner allowing you to save the time, trouble and baggage allowance for more important items.
We strongly recommend our guests to try out a biodegradable shampoo & body wash product, with all natural proven safe formulas which is most importantly Reef-safe and ocean-friendly.
With no extra charges, we want to do a part on environmentally awareness, ultimately hoping our guests will like the product and do right the switch to these environmentally safe personal care products! We also have hairdryers available in each cabin.
Do take note, we do not provide toothpaste and toothbrush onboard, we highly recommended our guests to bring along their own from their home to cut down one-time use toothbrush and toothpaste wastage.

Our dive crews are trained in first aid and diving accident management, all our vessels is equipped with a completed first aid kits and a high capacity oxygen system.
Trained crews will evaluate the situation and perform on the spot first aid treatment to stabilise the victim’s condition. Vessel will contact the closest local hospital immediately and seek for treatment advice, while evacuating the victim with our high-speed craft to the local hospital.
Since emergency transportation and treatment cost is the responsibility of each guest, we strongly recommend that you dive conservatively and obtain special insurance for divers from Divers Alert Network, Dive Assure or similarly ranked company.
Be warned that the standard of the hospitals in Palau are not so advanced and most of the time we’re diving at remote parts of Palau. All diving must be planned within the limits and standards of your certification organization, divers has to be responsible on pre-dive check their own diving equipment and diving in buddy system at all times.
Please remember to bring your C-card or proof of certification in Scuba Diving. Our dive Team requires your diving proof of certification before the first dive. You will be required to complete our liability release form and waiver agreement prior to departure for Palau.

Yes, Dive Insurance is Mandatory. Divers will be required to show their dive insurance proof and diving certification card onboard. We do provide purchase of Dive Assure Diving Insurance onboard, please let our team know if you required one.
Divers has to ensure their personal diving insurance do provide insurance coverage for diving related activities in Asia Pacific/Palau.

Yes, all Nitrox qualified divers may opt to dive with Nitrox for an additional charge. EANitrox prices: USD$10 per dive OR USD$200 for 8 days/7 nights, with subsequent additional for US$20 per day. We only provide up to EAN30% as default.
Diver have to be Nitrox certified to dive Nitrox, and the risks and proper procedures for avoiding those risks are covered in the course. Diver should always analyse their gas and set their dive computer accordingly before heading out to the dive site.
When diving nitrox, analyse every tank again by yourself before every dive without exception.
Currents and winds may cause moderate movement of the vessel at times. If you have a tendency toward seasickness we strongly urge you to bring some over-the- counter motion sickness medication or consult your doctor about prescription brands, such as the trans-dermal patch or Scopace tablets.
Chewable ginger tablets or capsules of powdered ginger have also proved to be effective.
Currents are what make the Palau diving so special and can vary, our experienced dive guides will always check currents and conditions prior to a dive. Palau is well known for pretty strong currents; beginner divers may find Palau’s strong currents challenging.
Divers are highly recommended have at least 50 logged dives before considering visit Palau for diving, due safety reasons.
If we feel that a diver’s experience is not adequate, we will recommend that they sit a dive out or often the Cruise Director will personally escort the diver to ensure safety. Safety is our priority. We have years of experience in the business so please trust our judgement, we definitely want all our divers to enjoy their diving experience in Palau with us.
*No refund will be given in the situation when we feel that a diver’s experience is not adequate and the Cruise Director has to recommend him/her to sit out on certain technical dive sites or much challenging dive condition.
Underwater visibility is good year-round, but can be affected by tide, wind, and weather.
Visibility can vary from 5 metres to 40 metres. This is never a real concern because the enormous diversity of life in Palau waters.
Water temperatures can vary from 30C to 25C but a normal range for most areas is 26C to 28C, a 3mm wetsuit usually suffices throughout the whole trip.
Yes, Divers are required to be equipped with a reef hook when diving in Palau, it a compulsorily to ensure diver’s safety when diving in medium to strong current conditions and also to minimize/prevent possible damage of the coral reefs.
Most of dive sites in Palau are exposed to ocean current, having a reef hook allow divers to hold at a position when required to watch the pelagic marine life out in the blue, the reef hook kept diver from being push away when against the ocean current.
Don’t worried if you haven’t use a reef hook before, our experienced dive guides will brief and demonstrate the correct way to use a reef hook during the dive briefing.
Free complimentary rental reef hooks are available onboard, just approach any of our dive guides if you required one. 🙂
All diving on board the Black Pearl should be planned no-decompression dives, according to dive plans and conducted within the limits and standards of your certification agency.
Our guide-to-divers ratio is 1:7 at maximum (one guide for a maximum of 7 divers), ensuring divers are well looked after. By law, all dives in Palau must be guided. All dives are conducted from a boat, and are mostly drift dives.
Each diver is required to carry a safety sausage, we provide Nautilus lifeline device, Safety sausage and reef hook which will be compulsory for all our divers to be equipped throughout all the dives.
Divers has to dive according to the safety guidelines given during the dive briefing. Our dive guide has all the right to ban from diving if any divers doesn’t follow the rules or have been diving recklessly.
Most of our tanks use DIN/Yoke convertible valves so there is no need to bring your adapter.
On default each diver will be allocated with a 12 litres aluminium diving cylinder, additional diving tanks for side mount diver and 15 litres diving cylinders available with an additional charge.

All dives are made from the newly built 2 x 40 feet dive skiffs and customized for diving purpose that is able to take up to 16 divers on each skiff. semi covered skiff design with twin 170hp internal diesel engines, its top speed up to 40 knots.
Equipped with GPS, VHF radio, essential diving safety first aid kits and medical oxygen set.
Two way transfers from Airport to Port and Port to Airport is included, our skiff vessel will transfer you onboard to Black Pearl once arrival at port. We will return to the same port for your departure, the land transportation will be waiting for you which heads to the International Airport.
Taxis are not readily available at the Palau International Airport. All transportation must pre-arranged. Do contact our customer services team if you required transfer to your hotel instead of the International Airport, they will assist you for the arrangement of the transport.
For solo travellers we offer several options, choices of sea view or deluxe cabins you may choose to have a cabin for yourself for which we charge a single supplement of 80% of the per person price. However, if you are happy to share a cabin, we will place you in a twin cabin with a member of the same sex.
We do not mix cabins without express permission of both guests.
The official currency of Micronesia is the US dollar; any payments may be made in cash as we right now doesn’t have a credit payment machine onboard.
It is highly recommended to advise your provider that you are travelling abroad. Currency Exchange – We recommend exchanging currency in major banks rather than smaller money changers.
Cash will be the best to ensure you have enough with you before arriving at your point of embarkation as it is not always possible to obtain sufficient cash in the more remote areas of Palau.
Tips for your crews are not included and preferred in cash of any currency to minimise tax implications for the crew.

Parents are responsible for their children at all times, our crew will assist guest to take care of their children when they’re out for diving.

The archipelago’s oceanic realm is home to about 400 reef-building hard corals and 150 species of soft corals, gorgonians and sea pens. Reef fishes in Palau are also far more diverse than those in neighbouring Micronesian islands – at least 1450 species. The napoleon wrasse and Bumphead parrot fish are protected species here. Sharks thrive in the waters as that were named the World’s First Shark Sanctuary in 2009.
Situated between the Philippine Sea and northern Pacific Ocean. The striking limestone islands emerge from crystal clear azure waters and three ocean currents which converge in its waters, bring with them a dazzling array of marine life, offering a mix of healthy shallow reefs, WW2 wrecks, colourful walls, blue holes and exciting drop offs, Palau has something for everyone.
Most famous Dive Site in Palau is the Blue Corner, it is arguably one of the best in the world, landing in the top 3. Rich in nutrients, oceanic currents rush up from the deep as cruising grey reef sharks search for their prey. Schools of barracuda, giant Napoleon Wrasse, school of snappers and butterfly fishes. The dense concentration of marine life is revealed as these countless underwater fruits of nature dart in and out of a scintillating panorama of hard and soft corals that house them.
Periodic flash rain showers are frequent throughout the year, rain monsoon between the months of July and October, however Palau is suitable to visit all year round.
Being so close to the equator, Palau enjoys a steady warm climate all year round with an annual average temperature of 30 (86°F). Dry season runs from November to April with maximum temperatures of around 32°C (90°F) and lows of 27°C (81°F).
Humidity is high all year round.
Rainy season falls between July and October, and thunderstorms are quite common but typhoons, when it can rain for days at a time, are fairly rare, as the islands are too close to the equator to be in the hurricane corridor.
For divers, the best to go to Palau is during the dry season, from September to May, when calmer seas means it’s easier for boats to get to particular areas. Manta rays can be seen all year round.

Palau’s scenery ranges from soft, white sand beaches, tropical rainforest, jungle trails, to spectacular waterfalls and hidden lakes. There are a multitude of activities to get involved in, from kayaking, snorkelling, bird-watching and hiking.
Our cabins are cleaned daily, we have 2 hardworking housekeeping crews responsible to maintain cleanliness and tidiness of our guests cabin at all times.
Bathing and face towels are changed every 3 days of use. Bed sheet, duvet cover and pillow case will be used throughout the entire week.
However, please feel free to request for a change at any time when necessary, just approach any of our crews.
We can accommodate vegetarian and selective non-meat diets. Vegans will require advanced notice with a specific list of allowable ingredients for their meal preparation.
If you have any food allergy, please inform our reservation team upon booking. Our chefs will be able to better prepared with ingredients to prepare your meal separately from the rest.
- All divers must be minimal advanced scuba diver certification level or above in order to dive on Black Pearl, recommended with logged at least 50 dives. (We will based on check dive’s individual diver condition if they’re properly trained and safe to dive, if any diver fail to diving in safe condition on his/her own. Compulsory private dive guide must be hired on diver’s own expenses in order to carry on diving onboard.)
